Do you believe in miracles? Many fervently believe in the miracles related in both the New and Old Testaments of the Bible - the parting of the Red Sea, Jesus' healing of the blind and raising of the dead, and. of course, the virgin birth.
But those miracles took place thousands of years ago. Do miracles still occur? Do the powers of Heaven make themselves known in unexplained ways even in the 20th and 21st centuries? Following are what many consider to be photographic evidence that miracles remain a part of our lives.
Heavenly
Figure in the Night Sky
This interesting photo was taken, so
the story goes, by a pilot flying a high-altitude reconnaissance mission
somewhere over the North Pole. Being a photography buff, he always carried his
camera with him. It was the dead of night when he suddenly heard a gentle voice
tell him to get his camera and prepare to take a picture. The apparition shown
here allegedly then took shape before him, and he photographed it. Many believe
it is an apparition of Jesus.

Our
Lady of Fatima Statue
In 1997, a pilgrim to a shrine to Our Lady of Fatima in Conyers, Georgia, handed
her young daughter a camera with which to take a picture of the statue of the
Blessed Mother. A week later, when the photo was developed, a strange,
multi-colored glow seemed to emanate below the bouquet of roses in the statue's
arms. "I have seen numerous images with unusual characteristics, in many
instances, these characteristics could be explained away as lens flare,"
wrote the girl's father. "This is certainly not the case here! I have had a
handful of photographic experts look at the photo with no explanation being
offered. As I have come to understand over time, I do not question how such a
thing could happen, I simply thank Our Lady for this beautiful gift she has
given us."

Unexplained crosses
of light have been appearing in churches and non-religious settings around
the world for more than 10 years, according to the Elk
Transmission Mediation Group. One of the first appeared in 1988 in the
bathroom of an apartment in El Monte, California. Since that sighting, other
crosses of light have been documented in the Philippines; Knoxville, Tennessee;
Altadena, Calif.; Vancouver, B.C.; a suburb of New Orleans, Louisiana; as well
as France, Germany and New Zealand. According to the reports, no sources could
be found to reasonably account for the images. "The crosses are indeed in
the windows at the Copper Ridge Baptist Church," wrote The Greenville
Sun columnist Bob Hurley about the Knoxville
apparition. "That is a fact. It doesn't matter if you believe it or
not. There at first, I was a bit of a skeptic myself. But now that I've seen the
crosses of Copper Ridge with these two eyes, I'm a believer."
