Prophecies of War - Part 1
Was the current war in Yugoslavia predicted by several prophets over 100 years ago? And do they have even more dire predictions for our future?

... ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars...

predicted Jesus when asked about the signs that would lead up to the “end times.” It’s always a safe bet to predict wars in man’s future, being the hostile creature that he is. But have prophets been able to predict specific wars taking place at specific points in time? Many believe, for example, that Nostradamus correctly predicted the rise of Hitler and the devastation of World War II. Most often, however, the writings of prophets are interpreted as pertaining to a certain event after the fact; it wasn’t until after Kennedy was assassinated that some interpreters of Nostradamus figured out he predicted it.

What about the current war in Kosovo? Have prophets from 100 years ago and longer foreseen the events taking place there today... events that some believe may lead to a bigger, far more consequential conflict?

In an article about Mitar Tarabich (1829-1899), “a little known Serbian prophet,” he is quoted as making some far-reaching prophecies about the future, which may include current events. According to the article, Tarabich  was an illiterate peasant from the small Serbian village of Kremna who occasionally had prophetic visions that were written down by a local priest. Supposedly, Tarabich has a good track record, correctly predicting some events in Serbia that led up to WWI:

After the assassination of the King and Queen [Alexander and Draga Obrenovich] the Karageorgevichs will come to power. Then we will again start a war with the Turks. Four Christian states will attack Turkey, and our border will be on the river Lim. Then we shall finally conquer and avenge Kosovo...

The Serbs will separate from each other, and they will say: “I am not a Serb, I am not a Serb.”

The article points out that indeed in 1903 the Obrenvichs were assassinated by their own guards, and Peter Karageorgevich became the ruler of Serbia, then in 1912 a war erupted between Serbia and Turkey with Serbia receiving help from Greece, Bulgaria, and Montenegro -- three other Christian states.

The article goes on to reveal how Tarabich also accurately predicted Serbian-related events that rook place in the 1930s, 1940s, and WWII. On the current crisis in the Balkans, these passages are found:

After him [“him” is interpreted as Yugoslavian leader Tito] our land will be governed by some kind of commission, but it will never be as it was. Even though the people in our kingdom will forget about misery and hunger and will live in great wealth, brother will start to hate and think evil of brother.... The Serbs will separate from each other, and they will say: “I am not a Serb, I am not a Serb.” The unholy one will infiltrate this nation and bed with Serbian sisters, mothers and wives. He will sire such children that among the Serbs, since the beginning of the world, these will be the worst of offspring. Only weaklings will be born, and nobody will be strong enough to give a birth to a real hero.

There are some other interesting predictions, too, from this man who never lived to see the 20th century:

  • Men will build a box and within will be some kind of gadget with images... Television and computers?
  • Man will travel to other worlds to find lifeless deserts there... Our missions to Mars and other planets?
  • The whole world will be plagued by a strange disease and nobody will be able to find a cure... Aids?
  • Those who will read and write different books with numbers will think that they know the most... Writing with a computer, which uses binary code, could be said to be writing with numbers.

Unfortunately, Tarabich also predicts a time when “evil ones will ravage the whole earth and men will start to die in great numbers” and many other catastrophic events. But he also alludes to a time of enlightenment when men will rediscover a “real power” within themselves, and “...when that happens, people will be so sorry that they didn’t discover it before, because this knowledge is so simple.”

In Part Two, another prophet makes startling predictions about assassination and war in the Balkans that could lead to a much bigger war involving the U.S., Russia, and China.
